Do Sweeps Coins Expire? The Rules at 17 Casinos
Yes, at most sweepstakes casinos. Of the 17 we checked, ten expire Sweeps Coins after a stretch without logging in (45 to 90 days, most often 60), three after 60 days without playing them, and WOW Vegas 60 days after they're credited. High 5 Casino and LoneStar Casino give no period.
Sweeps Coins don't sit in your account forever. Leave a balance alone long enough and most casinos wipe it, and none of the rules we read promise a warning first. The catch is that each casino starts its clock from a different moment, so "I logged in last month" protects you at one site and does nothing at another. We read the expiry rule in each casino's own documents. Here they are.
Three kinds of clock
From your last login. The most common rule: ten of the 17 casinos count from the last time you logged in, and any login restarts the clock. Chanced, Chumba Casino, Fortune Coins, Punt, Sportzino, Yay Casino and Zula Casino give you 60 days. Legendz gives 45, and Global Poker and Lavish Luck give 90.
From your last play. Modo Casino, MyPrize and Spree count days without playing with the coins, not days without logging in. Sixty days with no Sweeps Coin play and the coins go. Modo's terms go a step further: Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins are tracked separately, so playing Gold Coin games doesn't keep your Sweeps Coins alive.
From the day they're credited. WOW Vegas runs the strictest clock. Its Help Center says free SC expire 60 days after they're credited and are removed regardless of account activity. Logging in and playing don't extend it.
Two casinos give no period at all. High 5 Casino's Sweepstakes Rules (version 45.0) and LoneStar Casino's Promotional Play Rules (version 1.8) set no expiry for Sweeps Coins. LoneStar's clause 9.4 does reserve the right to remove or expire Redeemable Sweep Coins, so "no period" isn't "no risk".

Read from each casino's own rules or help pages; the date links to the document. "Rules not readable" means the page showed a verify-you-are-human check when we tried, so we haven't confirmed its rule. Fortune Coins counts its redeemable coins as FC, and the same 60-day rule applies to them.

Why expiry hurts small balances most
Expiry rarely touches someone who plays every week. It hits the player who collects free coins slowly: a few from the daily bonus, a few by mail, never quite reaching the redemption minimum. At Legendz, 45 quiet days are enough to lose it all. At WOW Vegas, free coins can expire even while you're active, if you don't play them through and redeem within 60 days of getting them.
Mail-in requests make this worse. Cards take time to credit, and if you're building toward a 100 SC minimum by mail, the first coins can expire before the last ones arrive. Mail-In Sweeps Coins shows how many cards each minimum takes.
How to keep your coins
- Know which clock your casino uses. The table above has it.
- Log in or play on a schedule. A calendar reminder every 30 days covers every login-based rule we found.
- At Modo Casino, MyPrize and Spree, play a little. A login isn't enough there.
- At WOW Vegas, use free SC within 60 days of getting them.
- Redeem once you can. Once coins become a prize, there's no balance left for the clock to wipe. The minimums and steps are in How to Redeem Sweeps Coins for Cash.
What the rules don't say
- Whether any casino warns you before coins expire. None of the documents we read promise a notice.
- RealPrize's rule. Its rules page showed a verify-you-are-human check when we tried, so we left it unconfirmed rather than guess. RealPrize and LoneStar share a sponsor, but we don't assume the same rule.
- What counts as "play" at Modo Casino, MyPrize and Spree, beyond game play using the coins.

Frequently asked questions
Do Sweeps Coins expire?
At most casinos, yes. Ten of the 17 we checked expire them after 45 to 90 days without a login, Modo Casino, MyPrize and Spree after 60 days without playing them, and WOW Vegas 60 days after they're credited.
Do Chumba Sweeps Coins expire?
Yes. Chumba's Sweeps Rules say Sweeps Coins are valid for 60 days from the date you last logged on. Logging in restarts the clock.
Which casino keeps Sweeps Coins the longest?
Global Poker and Lavish Luck, at 90 days from your last login. Legendz is the shortest at 45 days.
Does logging in stop Sweeps Coins from expiring?
At ten of the 17 casinos, yes, because their clock runs from your last login. At Modo Casino, MyPrize and Spree you have to actually play with the coins, and at WOW Vegas nothing resets it: free SC expire 60 days after they're credited.
Do Gold Coins expire too?
Sometimes. Modo Casino's terms, for example, expire Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins separately after 60 days without play, so playing with one type doesn't keep the other alive.
Can a casino take Sweeps Coins without them expiring?
Yes. Most rulebooks also say coins can be forfeited if your account is closed or suspended, including at the casino's discretion.
